Medical technology and pharmaceutical system solutions

In medical applications and pharmaceutical systems, interfaces determine functionality and safety. At Fraunhofer IST, we therefore develop customized coating and surface solutions that allow for precise control of adhesion – ranging from adhesion-promoting to anti-adhesive. In this way, we optimize medical devices, primary packaging materials, particulate systems, and surfaces in production facilities. Our strength lies in combining a broad range of coating technologies with application-oriented testing. To this end, we develop specific testing and characterization methods that simulate real-world operating conditions. Together with partners across the entire value chain – from material development to industrial production – we create solutions for reliable diagnostics, safe therapy, and efficient drug manufacturing. In this way, we contribute to high-performing and sustainable healthcare systems.
