Automotive Circular Economy Summer School at the joint Campus Wolfsburg

Are you in your fourth or higher semester of your bachelor's studies and interested in sustainability and future-oriented technologies? At the joint Campus Wolfsburg, students can gain a wide range of insights into the circular economy in the automotive industry during a Summer School from September 8 to 12, 2025. Renowned professors will present current research and bridge the gap between science and practical application. Leading industry partners such as VW, Salzgitter AG, and VfL Wolfsburg will provide hands-on perspectives and highlight career opportunities. The program also includes various workshops and excursions. In addition, the summer School offers many opportunities to network with experts from industry and research as well as with fellow students.

Our director of the institute and expert in sustainable production and life cycle engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Herrmann, is one of the key speakers at the Summer School. In a workshop, research scientists from Fraunhofer IST will also conduct an experiment on the pyrolysis of cable harnesses and related analysis with the participants.

Applications for the Summer School are open until August 15, 2025. For students from TU Braunschweig and Ostfalia, participation is eligible for ECTS credits.

The joint Campus Wolfsburg is a research campus for automotive recycling funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It brings together academic partners (TU Braunschweig, Fraunhofer Society, Ostfalia) and private companies (including Volkswagen) as well as start-ups to collaborate under one roof in research and education.
