Wasserstoff Netzwerk SüdOstNiedersachsen

Challenge

Alongside electrification powered by renewable energy, green hydrogen is a key component of achieving climate neutrality. In southeastern Lower Saxony, hydrogen is already enabling the transition to green steel production in Salzgitter. The project aims to analyze further hydrogen potential to support regional companies and municipalities in developing energy strategies with future viability.

Solution

The Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. will be established as a supraregional networking platform for the region. Fraunhofer IST will contribute its scientific expertise in the field of sustainable energy systems, while industrial companies and municipal members will bring their experiences and needs to the supraregional collaboration. Together, they aim to develop a roadmap for building a regional hydrogen infrastructure. Through the newly established “H2Board-SON,” project ideas will be consolidated, synergies identified, and joint initiatives coordinated.

Added Value

The office of Wasserstoff Campus e.V. will serve as a regional point of contact for project ideas in the fields of the hydrogen economy and renewable energy. This is intended to facilitate efficient knowledge transfer between research, industry, and local governments. Through joint networking activities, the region’s potential and value-creation prospects will be effectively promoted.
