Seminars and workshops

Over the course of several weeks, this event series brings together stakeholders from academia, business, and politics in the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region to discuss key future topics related to regional transformation and to strengthen collaboration.

Fraunhofer IST is participating in two events as part of the Transfernale.

On August 20, 2026, the Transfernale will be hosted by Rapid Prototyping Technologie GmbH in Gifhorn. The focus will be on rapid prototyping. A panel discussion will explore how ideas can be quickly transformed into functional prototypes using modern manufacturing techniques. Prof. Dr. Michael Thomas will contribute his expertise in the field of circular products and processes.

On August 25, 2026, the Transfernale 2026 will stop in Goslar and be hosted by H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders GmbH. The event will focus on the theme “Tungsten Works: Materials Powering the Future.” Among other topics, the discussion will highlight sustainable value chains and innovative recycling solutions for lithium-ion batteries. A highlight of the program is a moderated panel discussion with experts from industry and academia, during which current developments and challenges will be discussed. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sabrina Zellmer, Deputy Director at Fraunhofer IST and Head of the sustainable battery and hydrogen systems department, will contribute her expertise from both research and application perspectives.
