International Conference Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies

The International Conference on Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies (FM&NT 2026) will take place in Riga, Latvia, from June 15 to 18, 2026. The conference brings together scientists, students, companies, and representatives from research institutions and universities in the Baltic Sea region and beyond.

The focus will be on current research findings, innovative solutions, and applications in the field of functional materials and nanotechnologies. The program’s topics range from materials for energy applications, photonics, and functional materials to microfluidics and biomedical technologies, as well as sensor technology, thin-film and coating technologies, and large-scale research infrastructures and international collaboration.

There is also a special focus on the exchange between research and application. During the conference, representatives from EIT RawMaterials will provide insights into current European priorities, industry needs, and funding opportunities for commercialization and innovation projects. In addition, the DEMO exhibition offers the opportunity to present prototypes, technologies, and applied research to an international audience of experts.

Fraunhofer IST will be represented by a presentation from Dr. Volker Sittinger, in which he will present approaches to combining SALD and PVD processes for electron contact layers in perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells.
