The ChEMed 2026 International Conference (International Conference on Chemical Engineering as Applied to Medicine) in Cagliari, Italy, brings together experts from various fields to exchange ideas on applied process engineering in medicine.

The forum provides a platform for discussions on the application of scientific principles and methods from chemical and process engineering to solve various problems in the fields of physiology, medical diagnostics and therapy, healthcare, toxicology, and more.

Fraunhofer IST will be represented by Johanna Reus, who will give a presentation on surface optimization of primary packaging materials to reduce mRNA-LNP adhesion, as well as present a poster on the controlled surface functionalization of pharmaceutical carrier particles using plasma-assisted dry-coating processes.
