INSECTA 2025

INSECTA 2025 will take place again in Magdeburg from October 14–15, 2025 and will comprehensively address insect production and utilization. It will bring together experts from science, industry, politics, and society to discuss the current status, challenges, and potential of using insects as a sustainable resource for food, industry, and the environment.

Kai Weigel from Fraunhofer IST will demonstrate that insects also offer promising applications in coating and surface technology, especially in tribology. In his presentation, he will present current research results on the suitability of bio-based lubricants from soldier flies for use in sheet metal forming.
