Trade fairs and events

Due to the coronavirus the Hannover Messe 2020 has been canceled. The next Hannover Messe will take place April 12 to 16, 2021.

The Hannover Messe is considered the world's most important trade fair for technical solutions in industry. The main joint booth of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is placed in hall 16 for the first time under the motto “Digital Ecosystems“. This topic of the Hannover Messe is all about digital networking and applications for industry.

Within the “Materials and Adaptronics“ area of the joint booth the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST demonstrates its expertise in surface engineering and the associated product and production systems along a model process chain for the production of cutting tools - from materials to recycling - and application examples such as battery manufacturing.

The emphasis is on 3D printing, various coatings using thin-film technology and electroplating, the simulation of coating processes, sensor technology, analytics as well as life-cycle analysis and sustainable factory planning.
