Newsletter of the Fraunhofer IST

Editorial

Dear reader,

We would like to use this newsletter to express our congratulations on three accounts: Dr. Marvin Omelan for the Doctoral Prize of the German Rubber Industry, Dr.-Ing. Sabrina Zellmer for the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize for her excellent doctorate, and Prof. Dr. Arno Kwade for the Lower Saxony Science Prize (Wissenschaftspreis Niedersachsen). We are also pleased to present a way towards the "green" battery.

In our reports from the world of research you can find out more about the MOCCA software developed at the Fraunhofer IST and about the texturing of tool surfaces and highly stressed components which enables the specific adjustment of the tribological contact. In a blog post we show you what flexible production systems for smart surfaces can look like.

We hope you enjoy reading this issue and wish you a wonderful Advent season and happy holidays. Have a happy and healthy New Year.
