Testing and evaluation of photocatalytic long-term stability

An important aspect in the use of photocatalytic materials is the assessment of long-term stability. Due to the typical degradation processes on the surface, the catalyst can poison itself, e.g. by the formation of mineral salts. Mechanical stresses can also reduce service life over the long term. At the Fraunhofer IST, these effects are investigated by working with the customer to determine realistic stress scenarios and to find the best way to coordinate the necessary analytics in order to quantify the photocatalytic long-term stability of the products.

A wide range of standard-compliant and customer-specific test procedures

A large number of application-oriented long-term and stress tests are available at the Fraunhofer IST. These can be combined with the appropriate photocatalytic testing technology according to customer requirements (selection):

Als Mitglied des DIN-Normausschusses Photokatalyse und als anerkanntes Prüflabor des Deutschen Fachverbands angewandte Photokatalyse (FAP) bietet das Fraunhofer IST seinen Kunden Normprüfungen ihrer photokatalytisch aktiven Produkte nach den aktuell gültigen nationalen und internationalen Prüfnormen sowie Zertifizierungen ihrer Produkte nach den Richtlinien des FAP.
  • Stress due to artificial weathering and irradiation e.g. in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4892-2
  • Stress due to mechanical wear in the sand trickle test e.g. DIN 52348
  • Stress due to mechanical wear in the abrasion test e.g. DIN EN 13300
  • Outdoor weathering e.g. DIN EN 927-3
