The “International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings and Thin Films (ICMCTF 2024)” celebrates its 50th anniversary! Regarded as the leading international conference on thin film deposition, characterization and advanced surface engineering, this year’s edition places a focus on sustainable developments across the different fields of the conference.

Once again this year, more than 700 participants are being expected to take part in the diverse program of the conference. ICMCTF will host seven technical symposia addressing topics like synthesis processes, materials (four symposia), advanced characterization, modeling, and industrial applications. Furthermore, materials, processes, and applications will be discussed in five topical sessions, particularly focusing on sustainable development. In addition to these sessions, ICMCTF 2024 hosts a two-day industrial exhibition showcasing the latest equipment, materials and services used for the deposition, monitoring and characterization of coatings and thin films. The conference offers as well short courses in an educational program and is thus an important place where scientists, technologists and manufacturers meet.

In addition to these thematic sessions, participants will have various opportunities for networking, enabling the exchange of ideas and interdisciplinary connections.

This year, Fraunhofer IST is represented by Phillip Marvin Reinders who is giving a lecture during the session “Surface Modification of Components in Automotive, Aerospace and Manufacturing Applications I”.
