The Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST works together with customers and partners from industry and research to develop customized solutions: from prototypes through economic production scenarios to upscaling to industrial magnitudes – and all this whilst maintaining closed material and substance cycles.

Collaborative project “Neo-PEC“

Affordable, green, Neo-PEC  – the collaborative project “Neo-PEC“ aims to develop a tandem module that will be able to produce green hydrogen in a clean and cost-effective manner, thus enabling a decentralized hydrogen supply using an energy carrier which is transportable according to demand. Fraunhofer funds the research on this innovative hydrogen technology.


Fraunhofer lighthouse project “MaNiTU”

In the Fraunhofer lighthouse project “MaNiTU”, six Fraunhofer institutes are developing sustainable, highly efficient and cost-effective tandem solar cells on the basis of new absorber materials.
