Processes and technologies

Coating technology and surface engineering offer solutions for a broad range of technologies and processes across industries and applications. As an R&D service centre, we develop highly specific solutions to your problems in cooperation with you. One of the institute’s strengths is selecting the optimum combination for the respective problem from the existing range of processes. Fraunhofer IST primarily provides the following technologies:

Plasma discharge for the treatment of micro titration plates.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST develops new customer-oriented processes that make it possible to suitably modify or coat various surfaces, also on 3D substrates. Fields of application include microsystems engineering, medical technology, packaging, the capital goods industry, electronics industry, the automotive sector and aviation and aerospace.

One key focus at the Application Center for Plasma and Photonics of the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST in Göttingen is plasma particle technology. The work here concentrates on the generation or modification of particles and on plasma coating with processing of ultra-fine powders.

  • Diamont electrodes for water treatment and electrochemical synthesis
